Why was this startup created?

Recently, peer to peer commerce (sometimes known as social commerce) that uses social media networks such as Facebook, Instagram, etc. is thriving in Indonesia and the rest of South East Asia. However, Indonesia also has experienced some of the largest numbers of e-commerce fraud reported in the world. One of the hotbeds of this activity is social commerce and its many transactions.

When one of our founder's friends was living in South East Asia, they fell victim to e-commerce fraud. This spurred our founder to learn more about the problem. As a company in the field of commerce, we want to reduce the stress that comes with both buying and selling things online.

Please describe your product or service.

Our Startup provides an online payment service in South-East Asia called Tokopay. In the South-East Asia region, it’s difficult for small business owners to support e-commerce. Tokopay makes it easy to use a variety of e-commerce services. Since it is so simple for buyers to use safely, there are a lot of different cases where people have started to apply Tokopay. As a result, we currently have over 300,000 Tokopay users.

What is your company's vision?

Like we mentioned before, as an e-commerce platform we want to make buying and selling online less stressful for our users. We want to create a world where users can buy and sell products with confidence. 

What are your plans or goals for expanding your business over the next year?

With financing complete, we plan to strengthen our recruitment efforts. In Fukuoka, we’ll be focusing on recruiting designers and engineers. Little by little, we are working to establish a base in South East Asia. We’re also working on a service to expand the number of places where Tokopay is available.
